"MLE on R&I Foresight" (2022-2023)
The "Mutual Learning Exercise (MLE) on R&I Foresight" was a mutual learning exercise promoted by the European Commission that continued the debate promoted between 2020 and 2021 by the Trio of Presidencies of the Council of the European Union (Germany, Portugal and Slovenia). These exercises aimed to map and relaunch foresight activities in the Member States, given the centrality of this topic in times of great uncertainty and crises.
The topics chosen for this MLE exercise gave rise to differentiated workshops on: Institutionalizing capacities and creating foresight communities in the different components of the R&I system; Approaches and methods for involving citizens; Foresight, twin transitions and potential disruptions; Foresight and Smart Specialization Strategies for involvement in the European Union's R&I programmes, Missions and Partners.
FCT actively participated in this MLE, hosting (with the support of ISEG) the first event of the exercise held outside Brussels (on December 5 and 6, 2022), where the topic of institutionalizing capacities and creating forward-looking communities in the different components of the R&I systems was addressed.
