Yes. All scholarship recipients have the right to suspend activities funded by Studentship reasons of parenthood, under the terms of the regime provided for in the Labor Code.

Yes, if you have signed your Studentship contract Studentship FCT, you can continue to receive your Studentship the suspension of activities for parental leave, provided that you do not request this payment from Social Security or another social security institution from which you receive benefits.

Activities funded by Studentship be suspended for 120 or 150 consecutive days.
If you choose the 120-day period, the monthly maintenance allowance will remain at 100%; if you choose the 150-day period, the amount you receive will be equivalent to 80% of the Monthly Maintenance Allowance.

Yes. Parents may choose to share the initial parental leave, in which each parent enjoys, exclusively and not at the same time, a period of 30 consecutive days or two periods of 15 consecutive days, after the mother's mandatory six weeks. In this case, the leave period of 120 or 150 days, depending on the option, and the respective support are increased by 30 days.
Therefore, the 120-day leave will be extended to 150 days, with 100% of the Monthly Maintenance Allowance being paid, while the initial 150-day parental leave will be extended to 180 days, with 83% of the Monthly Maintenance Allowance being paid.
In cases where the father takes at least one period of 60 consecutive days, or two periods of 30 consecutive days out of the total 180 days of initial parental leave, in addition to the father's exclusive parental leave, the amount to be received is equivalent to 90% of the Monthly Maintenance Allowance.

You must submit your application at https://myfct.fct.pt/ by accessing the menu Financing → Applications → Create Applications, and submit the following documentation, indicating the period and conditions under which you wish to take parental leave:
a. Copy of the official document proving the birth of your child (birth certificate, photocopy of civil identification document, or statement from the doctor at the health facility or service proving the date of birth);
b. Statement issued by Social Security proving that you do not receive the initial parental allowance from them;
c. Declaration under oath that you have not requested, nor will you request, support/subsidy applicable to this condition from Social Security or any other entity.
If you choose to take shared initial parental leave, the following applies:
d. Joint declaration of sharing, duly signed by both parents and stating the periods during which each will benefit from the aforementioned leave;
e. Statement issued by the other parent's employer or social protection system, confirming the period during which they will take initial shared parental leave.

Under the father's exclusive parental leave, you may suspend activities funded by the Studentship the following periods:
- 28 days of mandatory leave, consecutive or interspersed with a minimum of 7 days, of which 7 are taken consecutively immediately after the birth and the remaining 21 within 42 days thereafter;
- 7 days of optional leave, consecutive or intermittent, provided that it is taken at the same time as the mother's initial parental leave.
During the suspension of activities due to the father's initial exclusive parental leave, the monthly maintenance allowance is paid in full.

a. Copy of the official document proving your child's birth (birth certificate or photocopy of civil identification document);
b. Statement issued by Social Security proving that you do not receive the initial parental allowance exclusively from the father from Social Security;
c. Declaration under oath that you have not requested, nor will you request, support/subsidy applicable to this condition from Social Security or any other entity.

Yes. You are entitled to suspend activities financed by Studentship the period recommended by your doctor, while continuing to receive 100% of the Studentship monthly maintenance allowance.
Days of leave due to clinical risk do not count towards or are deducted from the initial parental leave entitlement.

a. Medical certification indicating the period of incapacity for research work due to clinical risk in pregnancy;
b. Statement issued by Social Security proving that you do not receive the clinical risk allowance from them;
c. Declaration under oath that you have not requested, nor will you request, support/subsidy applicable to this condition from Social Security or any other entity.
