The FCT's Calls for R&D Projects in All Scientific Fields seek to increase national and international competitiveness in science and technology, as well as contribute to innovation and knowledge transfer, and to the achievement of the global aspirations set out in the 2030 Agenda: United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Call IC&DT projects in all scientific areas is held annually. The evaluation is carried out by panels of independent experts, predominantly affiliated with foreign institutions, who are experienced and of recognized merit and integrity, constituted by scientific domain, scientific area, and scientific subarea.
Calls be intended to finance one or more of the following types of projects:
- Scientific research and technological development projectsfocused on scientific issues or original and relevant concepts, based on international standards, which contribute significantly to the advancement of knowledge and result in indicators of scientific production during the course of the project.
- Exploratory research projects corresponding to scientific or technological research aimed at exploring ideas or concepts that are considered to be original and/or have potential for innovation.
