The Arquivo.pt Award is a Call to promote the use of websites preserved by Arquivo.pt. Its goal is to encourage and recognize research and discovery of useful applications of the Portuguese web archive for society.
Arquivo.pt is a research infrastructure managed by FCT, which allows users to search and access web pages archived since 1996. Its main objective is to preserve information published on the web for the purposes of memory, study, and research.
Every day, millions of pages are published on the Web, and the amount of information that is exclusively published in this medium has been increasing rapidly in recent years. However, after a relatively short time, the vast majority of this information is no longer available and is irretrievably lost. The archiving and preservation of information published on the Portuguese Web allows this knowledge to be accessible to future generations.
The Call reward original and innovative works that demonstrate the usefulness of the Arquivo.pt service and the importance of preserving and using information published on the web. The works must use Arquivo.pt as their main source of information and be practical applications or complete research studies based on information preserved from the web by Arquivo.pt.
The three highest-ranked entries will receive awards:
- 1st place: €10,000
- 2nd place: €3,000
- 3rd place: €2,000
The Call open to all interested parties, either individually or in groups, however, applications must be submitted on behalf of a single responsible person.
Applications until May 6, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. (Lisbon time)
