The instruments governing the allocation of funding by the FCT may include ways of rewarding compliance with the Policy, namely by granting preferential conditions in the allocation of funding to those who comply with it.

The FCT aims to create conditions that encourage full compliance with the Policy by those subject to it and their voluntary and committed adherence to such compliance. For this reason, the FCT favors financing instruments that reward compliance with the Policy, notably by granting preferential conditions in the allocation of funding to those who comply with it.

In order to aid understanding of the Open Access Policy, FCT has developed a support website. This website can be consulted by authors to guide them through the open access publication process.
