The instruments governing the awarding of funding by the FCT may include ways of valuing compliance with the Policy, namely by awarding preferential conditions in the granting of funding to those who comply with it.
-
FCT aims to create conditions that encourage full compliance with the Policy by those subject to it and their voluntary and committed adherence to it. For this reason, the FCT favors funding instruments that include ways of valuing compliance with the Policy, namely by granting preferential conditions in the allocation of funding to those who comply with it.

In order to help authors understand the Open Access Policy, FCT has developed a support website. This site can be consulted by the author to guide them through the process of publishing on open access.

No.
The author of a book that includes third-party copyright content must seek permission from third parties so that this content can be made available open access with the book.
If this is not possible, the author must remove this content from the book and make it available in open access. This is only waived if publication without such content would seriously compromise the meaning of the book and the correct perception of its content.
The use of third-party content under exceptions and limits to copyright is lawful, does not require the above-mentioned steps and cannot exempt the application of the Policy and the availability of the book in open access.
